ABOUT US
American Barn Art brings this beautiful tradition to barns in the Southeast. “Barn Art” can also be installed on sheds, man-caves, “she-caves”, outbuildings, pump houses, boathouses and docks. It also can be displayed on patios, and the exterior of residential homes and commercial properties. Some of pieces are stunning as interior décor. Designs may include traditional quilt square styles or more contemporary patterns in all colors of the rainbow.
We currently offer 2’ x 2’ and 4’ x 4’ wood panels hand-painted with high quality exterior latex paint. Due to the fact that our pieces are handmade, no two pieces are identical. Our designs may be modified to fit your tastes. We fill custom orders or you may choose from “Our Quilt Gallery”. If you do not see what you like, or if you have questions, please contact us.
The American Barn Art Project is an extension of our barn art business. We are currently registering local businesses and residences to participate in a local Quilt Trail. Our Quilt Trail will map out where local barn art is installed. You will be able to drive along rural roads as well as in town to locate the barn art. Our easy-to-read map will be coming soon. Please check back for updates.
If you or your business would like to be a part of the American Barn Art Project Quilt Trail, please let us know. Businesses currently committed to the American Barn Art Project Quilt Trail (in progress):

Laura Hilsenbeck’s appreciation of barn quilts began around 2009 when she spent time in Lexington, Kentucky. She was fascinated with their simple, yet stunning, characteristics. Laura admired other local sites, such as the covered bridges, Keeneland, Red Mile, and the very active local art scene. During her time in Lexington, Laura implemented and taught an arts and crafts program with the local Police Activity League (PAL).
Fast forward to 2019 – when Laura’s client purchased a horse farm near Samsula, Florida, she saw an opportunity to adorn their barns with colorful barn quilts. From this first project, American Barn Art was born.
When she is not painting barn quilts, Laura is the owner of a full-service public accounting firm located in Holly Hill, Florida. She is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and a Kentucky Colonel.
She is a native Floridian and resides in the Daytona Beach area.
Jennifer Moorhead has recently retired after devoting 30 years to the practice of law. A horse-lover since age 3, she was an accomplished equestrian and spent many weekends traveling around Florida to compete her thoroughbreds in the disciplines of dressage, hunter/jumper, and three-day eventing.
She also dabbled in artistic painting, first in oils and then acrylics. Now retired she has become amazed at the vibrant color combinations and geometric patterns of quilters and has found a way to combine her two loves to join American Barn Art as an artist.
